INETA Meetings at TechEd Dallas in June

Are you planning to attend TechEd - the premier training conference for developers using .NET technology?  This year Tech·Ed offers a comprehensive technical agenda across both infrastructure and developer topics with content covering the entire Microsoft Platform, including Windows Server 2003, Exchange Server, SQL Server, Visual Studio .NET, Microsoft .NET Framework, Microsoft Office System, and more.

INETA will be there in full force. We will have a full day of meetings on Sunday, June 1, prior to the main conference. Join us at lunch daily at designated tables, visit our booth in the Exhibits Hall and look for our special events offered during the week.  Come find out more about how we can help your user group and how you can get involved in INETA.

If you are going to be going to TechEd, get there early so you can participate in these meetings. Let us know if you are coming.

It's Official! Windows Server 2003 and Visual Studio .NET are in full Release

April 24th was the big day. Windows Server 2003 and Visual Studio .NET are now released. No more betas. VS.NET upgrades can be had for $29. Make sure your user group members know about this because it is a limited time offer.

INETA to be featured on .Net Rocks!

.NET Rocks! Carl Franklin and Mark Dunn's .NET Audio Q & A show will be featuring INETA in a soon to be released show (dates TBA). A panel of INETA folks, including a number of board members, will be available to answer all questions about INETA past present and future.

You can participate in this show too. Email .Net Rocks! with comments, suggestions and ideas for the INETA leadership so we can make this dynamic, all volunteer organization, as successful as it can be. You can also submit technical .NET questions. Email your questions to toddf@franklins.net, and they'll be in touch.

Many of the INETA Speakers have been featured on past .NET Rocks! shows as well as other big names in .NET. You can download past shows from their website.

ASPNetPro Magazine

INETA and Informant Communications are pleased to bring you a sweet deal for your group and your members. For groups in the US and Canada (only), your members can get a subscription to the highly acclaimed ASP.NET Pro magazine for the lowest price ever, AND, a portion of the proceeds of the subscription fee are shared with INETA  and  with the user group the subscriber belongs to. To participate in this program, all you need to do is promote it to your members (a special banner on your site, optionally send a mailing, etc). They'll appreciate the offer, and your user group will also benefit. Interested? Contact Ed Ring for complete details.

Speakers Bureau News

Two Speaker Bureau members have lovely new baby boys that we would like to brag about. Matthew Paul Litwin was born on Monday April 14th and Joseph Andrew Duthie was born on Friday, April 18th. Congratulations to Paul Litwin and his wife and to G. Andrew Duthie and his wife.

Congratulations also to Chris Sells and Asli Bilgin who have been hired by Microsoft. Chris is on the Content Team for MSDN and Asli is a .NET Developer Evanglist for the Eastern U.S. Sadly, this does mean that they will no longer be on the Speakers Bureau.

MSDN News

MSDN Website Changes msdn.microsoft.com has a new face and a new image. They have organized content into "Developer Centers". Lots of changes. Lots of new content. Check it out

MSDN RSS Feeds MSDN is now publishing their news in RSS feeds. These are a great resource for your user group website. For the uninitiated, RSS feeds are a specially formatted XML file containing headlines, links and a short description, that is constantly updated. There are already a number of feeds. One that puts out "Recently Published on All MSDN" and a number of specific feeds such as "XML Web Services". You can see some of the feeds in action at www.vtdotnet.org, where they are being consumed in a custom control. More on the feeds here. More on RSS here.

In the INETA online Forums

How to get feedback- User group leaders discuss the issue of getting feedback from members to help with the direction of the user group.

Need a presentation? Check out the INETA Repository!

Greg Huber from the Northwest Ohio .NET User Group wrote in the forums that he loved being able to get presentations from other user groups that have been uploaded to the repository. He says "I encourage UG's to use the repository-- there is some great material in there."
