INETA Announces Reorganization
The board of directors has been
working on a plan for INETA to
keep pace with the dramatic
growth of the organization.
The goals
- Allow the board to focus on
international expansion now that
North America is running
quite well and there is a good
start in Europe, Latin America
and India.
- Provide a volunteer framework
that can expand and include new
people as our scope of
operations grows.
- Make sure we can spread the
work to be done over multiple
volunteers so that no one person
has to spend more than a few
hours a week (some more, some
less!).
- Allow volunteers to move into
different roles for their own
personal growth and to be
involved in activities that
interest them.
Current
status:
1. Keith Pleas was appointed
as head of the International
operations and also made a
member of the board of
directors. More details on
International operations and the
interaction between different
regions will be announced in
coming months.
2. Julie Lerman and Ruth Walther
have been named as co-chairs of
the User Group Relations
Committee for North America.
They in turn have re-organized
the UG committee to have two
parts; a strategic committee
that will make decisions and
policy and a regional rep
committee who will be
responsible for monitoring
groups in their assigned areas.
To facilitate personal knowledge
and involvement with each group,
we need to dramatically expand
the number of people assigned.
One person should not be
covering more than 10 or 20
groups.
As in the past, the North
American UG relations committee
will work in a matrix
organizational structure with UG
relations committees from the
various regions and continue to
publish the main INETA
Newsletter monthly.
3. Jason Beres and Rob Foster
have been named co-chairs of the
Academic Committee for North
America.
One of their goals is to
encourage interaction between
professional and academic groups
in a local area. As with the UG
Relations committee, they will
be working in a cross matrix
organization with other academic
committees around the world.
4. Sara Faatz has been named
head of the Marketing
committee. She has already
been working with the UG
Relations committee to help
profile the groups and keep the
information updated. She will
also be working to expand the
scope to include international
sponsorships.
5. Devin Rader has been named
chair of the Infrastructure
committee with John Bristowe
as the Infrastructure Architect.
Devin has made excellent
contributions to INETA in his
role as web content manager and
should help move our many web
projects along and get more
volunteers involved.
6. Scott Bellware has been named
chair of the Speaker
committee for North America.
Even before making an official
commitment, he has been working
with the User Group Relations
committee to define a process
between the two groups so that
a) to inform the ug relations of
up coming speaker engagements
and b) that the ug will promote
and invite other groups in the
area
All of these volunteers have
done an excellent job as members
of the various committees and we
are honored to have them take on
these new responsibilities.
Keeping a volunteer organization
moving ahead requires the
dedication of many like them!
Thanks!!!
These changes will allow the
board members Bill Evjen, Brian
Loesgen, Dave Noderer, Keith
Franklin, Farhan Mohammad and
Keith Pleas able to focus on
international expansion and
ensuring that the various
committees work together.
We are actively looking for
volunteers to help with the
Speaker Committee to help Scott
Bellware as Keith has moved on
to International and Farhan is
involved in setting up INETA
committee's in Pakistan and
Asia. Although roles are as yet
undefined we will also need
people in the international area
to help organize (China and
South Korea for example).
By the end of August we should
have more information about
International operations and the
international committees. We are
also in the process of planning
an international leaders
conference to help organize and
coordinate the many activities
going on around the INETA world!
Stay Tuned!

Chennai

 |
The Chennai .NET User Group - Students Chapter
is a part of the Chennai .NET User Group (CNUG) which focuses on

they wanted to start from the basics. The chapter will have
sessions in the campus of some of the cities colleges and will
have speakers from the Chennai .NET User Group coming in to help
them along. This chapter also has an online forum to support
students doing research and projects based on .NET technologies,
with experts from the parent group volunteering time for this.
|
|
This chapter was kicked off on 19th of July 2003. 338 students
representing 47 colleges attended the inauguration. Dr. (Mrs.)
Rani Siromoney, Head of Department, Madras Christian College
gave the inaugural speech. This was followed by a session ".NET
for Students" by TNC Venkatarangan, RD from Chennai. Anand M,
President, Chennai .NET User Group gave the attendees an
overview of the plans for the chapter thru a session titled
